Findlay City Government Accountability

Citizens for Findlay, seek to hold our Government officials and administrators accountable for the honesty and efficiency of our taxable revenues. Our goal is to create an open and transparent system of government for the citizens of Findlay, Ohio.

Citizens for Findlay is a pro-accountability group of citizens from Findlay seeking to hold our Mayor, City Council, and  their administration accountable for how they spend our tax dollars.  Our goal and desire is to bring awareness to the truth that City Hall is unwilling to make tough decisions to reduce expenditures.  Seeking a Tax Increase (Per the ballot language) is the easy way out for this administration.  Despite media coverage to the contrary we are not a nameless, faceless organization. I have personally contacted and spoken with the following news organizations: WFIN, The Courier, The Toledo Blade, WLIO and WSPD as the spokesperson for the group.  Additionally, two local residents were identified in the initial Citizens for Findlay news article in The Courier and another local citizen spoke publicly against the Tax INCREASE at an Americans’ For Prosperity event in Dorney Plaza. Citizens for Findlay is fortunate to have mothers, sons, fathers, brothers, aunts, uncles, republicans, independents and a host of other people working on our behalf and contributing to our campaign.

Findlay, the choice is yours.  Continue the current trend of wasteful spending to the tune of $4,200,000 annually or  VOTE NO ON ISSUE 3 and hold our Administration and City Council Accountable for the unnecessary spending.

After reviewing the audit performed by State Auditor, Dave Yost, it is apparent more can be done to reduce the City of Findlay budget, including reduction of staff among fire, police and administration.  The report finds an immediate $1.3 million in savings through reductions in fire, police and city services which can be consolidated with county services.

Furthermore, more savings can be realized through pension renegotiations and department consolidations, as mentioned in the audit.  It is apparent, the City of Findlay is bloated in several areas of government and this is one horse the State also feels can go on a diet!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 6, 2012

Citizens for Findlay has led a dialog that has been long overdue in our community. Though controversial
to some, today’s election results showed, as predicted, a significant number of voters share our
perspective regarding local government accountability and efficiency.

While change cannot happen overnight, we are hopeful that elected officials and public sector employeescan recognize their role as Public Servants. This once noble career field may come under scrutiny butthose in this field should be appreciated for their daily efforts. The same must be stated for each employer and every taxpayer that should also not be taken for granted.

However, elected officials and department heads must understand that we have to renew our efforts tolisten and accept the wishes of the community as a whole. This includes Democrats, Independents, andRepublicans.

Citizens for Findlay are not about one issue, person, group or political party but a simple agenda of Pro- Accountability. Going forward, we hope that mutual dialog can be held on the recommendations andsolutions citizens and private sector professionals have proposed for over a decade going forward.

We are open to these conversations taking place without the natural animosity created in the heat of anycampaign. However, these conversations should be in the same format that built this great community, which was private sector leadership with the support of public sector services. We all want what is best for our beloved Flag City USA and all of Hancock County.
